Inspired by a case of a pedophile priest covered up by the Church in Lyon, “By the Grace of God” tells the story of former victims’ fight to expose the scandal. This documentary shows how director François Ozon constructed his film using a blend of documentary and fiction, and how he filmed it in secrecy. Two founders of the association that led this fight, as well as Jean-Marc Sauvé, author of a damning report on sexual abuse within the Church, highlight the impact of this “citizen” film on the evolution of the law and the Church.
